Visit Istria in early spring

Istria’s pleasant weather, mouthwatering food, and extensive cultural history make spring a wonderful time to travel there. Istria offers something for everyone, whether your preference is to take a scenic drive down the coast, indulge in the local cuisine, or explore the quaint hilltop towns.

Visit Brijuni when less crowded

Brijuni islands are a great option for a day excursion, particularly if you’re looking for solitude in a pristine area rich in natural and cultural history. The largest island in the Brijuni group of islands is Veli Brijun, which is made up of 14 islands and islets. Along with stunning scenery, the Brijuni islands are home to a number of historical sites, including an outstanding Byzantine castrum and a Roman villa near the port of Verige.

Visit Motovun

Motovun is a picturesque medieval town, a jewel of the interior of Istria, located on top of a hill above the Mirna river valley. It is rich in natural and cultural sights, and is proud of excellent wineries and traditional gastronomy, which is largely based on truffles from the Motovun forest.

Asparagus harvesting

This wild, bitter herb has become an inevitable springtime staple on every table in Istria, from the middle of March to the middle of May. As a result, it earned the right to be considered a true icon of this area, alongside other well-known products like extra virgin olive oil, prosciutto, truffle, and malvasia.

Olive oil tasting

We also advise you to sample some of the world’s top olive oils. There are very few extra virgin olive oils produced in the world and none in Croatia like Istrian extra virgin olive oil, which is a product of our growers’ unwavering dedication and hard labour. Up to 56 Istrian oils are included in the Flos Olei list this year.

Spring is an excellent month to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and horseback riding in Istria because of its moderate climate. Enjoying the crisp air and breathtaking vistas, visitors can stroll throughout the region’s picturesque paths and landscapes.
